The other night we opted for a dinner out at our neighborhood North Bondi RSL club.  It was $8 steak night (and $6 glass of red wine night).  Previously unknown to us, the key to a relaxing RSL dinner was an early arrival.  Steak night was clearly quite popular with the locals – not a free table in sight when we reached the bottom of our glasses.  No surprise, I guess.  I mean, where else in all of Australia could you feed a family a steak dinner for $8 per head?  No matter that the dinnertime ambiance was a cross between high school cafeteria, stale-beer pub and Sizzler – our bellies were full and so still were our wallets.  See you next week, Steak Night!
