I am blogging once more from Command Central, happy to report that our shipment was finally delivered last Friday after sitting TEN WEEKS in customs. When Command Central was booted up, the first message said Hey, I haven’t been updated in 121 days. Wow. 121 days since we blew through our last roll of duct tape and nearly that many since we watched the moving truck drive away from the beach house with our pallet of belongings, or at least those we deemed worthy of and necessary for our move to Sydney.
And now as we unpack our downsized lives, we still feel a bit overwhelmed by it all. By the move, by the transition, by the differences in our life here vs. the one we left behind in Seattle, and by the sheer volume of stuff that we STILL have, even though it’s so much less than what we had 122 days ago. Travel light, we tell ourselves. Accumulate more memories and less stuff. Take a second and a third and a fourth look at that item you just pulled out of the box and say to yourself, hmm, I lived without this for 121 days, could I live without it for at least that many more?
