TransBallard: Day 3

Yorktown, Virginia. This is where it will all officially begin, where Gina and the Atlantic Ocean will meet, smile for the cameras, and maybe crack a bottle of champagne across someone’s front tire. I dunno – is that how you christen a monumental bike ride? Anyway, that’s tomorrow. Only Gina couldn’t wait until tomorrow and rode out there today with a few fellow TransAmmers.

This should please Cousin Cynthia no end, for this extra day meant there was plenty of time for a trip to the Visitor’s Center, a stamping for Gina’s National Park Pass Book, and a viewing of the center’s educational movie. Gina may not be able to turn rocks into a map of the States, but she’s a true master in the art of visiting National Parks. And speaking of cousins and states, we never did give Cousin Cynthia the proper shout-out for not only hosting us to a fabulous weekend in Kansas City a few months back, but for proving to us that our North Cascades quest for Texas and Florida was not in vain:
