I have figured it out. The number of days you can hold down a full-time day job and write part-time every evening about someone else’s summer vacation is 64. Then what happens? You find yourself shunning the computer for a new episode of Big Brother.
Tell me, how is it possible that I haven’t watched Big Brother since its second season – in fact, wouldn’t have even guessed the silly show was still on the air – and yet there he is, that guy named Mike Boogie, 11 years later on Big Brother 14? I mean really, how is that possible? And how is it possible that I am sitting here watching this show, talking to the TV, yelling when called for, rather than saying “Drivel” and turning it off? All I can figure is that I’m subconsciously relating to these people trapped in a house all summer. Go figure.
Gina and her fellow house guests aren’t trapped inside. Instead, they are outside at the rodeo. Too tuckered after a day of laundry, shopping, and a trip to the Yellowstone IMAX movie, Gina’s opting to ride the bleachers rather than the bucking broncos or wild bulls. Seems like a wise move, especially since it allows her to save her strength for the next Head of Household competition. Oh wait, that’s my reality, not hers. As I was saying, 64 days …
