Day 1: 0 miles but we rode 30
It’s a familiar sight: Carl up ahead, leading us along, slowing to chat, then picking up speed again when the full flock is gathered. The background this time is much different though, having gone from the vast stretches of brown that characterized Death Valley to these vast stretches of oceanic blue. It’s a great day to take the training wheels off and make sure we still remember how to pedal these two-wheeled machines that haven’t touched a bit of asphalt since last October.
It’s also the day that we meet The Group. Strangers coming together to share what some might consider a strange goal, this pedaling from one side of the country to the other. There are 14 of us in all – 10 men and 4 women – hailing mostly from the States but with a few foreign passport holders thrown in for good measure (and likely good sense). Let the journey begin …
Looks fabulous……did you get a stamp at the national site…
Thanks for posting your ride. Requesting more pictures of Fisher on his “Old Man” bike.
Will be watching your progress with great envy. Keep an eye on Dave for me.
Looks like a great time only wish I was there as well. Tell Dave Fisher hello from all of us. Love the post and looking forward to following your journey. Happy trails Karl
Super excited for you. Seriously, only 4 chicks!? Does that include Nicol? Wow, looks like you started from Point Loma?
I cant wait to read all your daily updates. Be safe and remember how much the rest of the world is jealous of you all
