Weather Watching Update

For those who may be wondering how the July weather statistics finally stacked up here in Sydney, here are a few quotes from the Australian Government’s Bureau of Meteorology to wrap up the month:

  • “Wettest July since 2006.”  (A total of 4.5 inches recorded.)
  • “Highest number of rainy days since 1959.”  (That would be a total of 18 days.)
  • “Sydney has now experienced three consecutive months of above average rainfall.”  (Of course it has.)
  • “Third lowest daily sunshine average for July on record.”  (Only 4.8 hours per day.)

We’re not sure what Mother Nature has in store for us this month, but she’s certainly starting out with a bang.  It’s been a window-rattler all night long, with gale force winds blowing here along the coast.  Who knew a Sydney winter would feel so much like home?
