5 Hours by Car
Today was a travel day. We pretty much suck at these. Can’t stand being stuck in the car for long periods, nor pulling over at every roadside attraction. It’s a long, winding road from Wanaka to Fox Glacier. Not that Gina would really know, seeing how she dozed most of the way. Good thing I was driving.
Besides the white line, though, there was plenty to look at, the scenery changing from the brown, tussock hills to coastline and lush rainforest. After having left Seattle nearly 10 months ago, we realized that we have finally made our way back to the West Coast. Maybe not the West Coast of home, but a West Coast nonetheless, where suns set and the tilt of the world feels more familiar. Even better yet, the rain has ceased and the forecast calls for a dry day tomorrow. With luck we have timed this Fox Glacier well.
Author’s Note: For those following our adventure and wondering how the heck our Milford Trek went, well, obviously I have fallen behind in blogging. Stay tuned and I’ll eventually get current.
