25 to 27 July 2011
No sooner had Gina said “It’s not very nice out for my birthday”, after awaking to grey skies this past Monday morning, than a peal of thunder cracked through. Thunder? In Seattle in July? This is quite unusual. However, it did give her an excuse to turn on the TV for a dose of morning shows. A little birthday present to herself, I suppose.
The thunder was really just Mother’s Nature way of getting into the thick of the party with the start of Gina’s actual birthday week. With our successful avoidance of a stint in the King County jail, we’ve been free to continue celebrating this milestone occasion with lunches and parties and family coming to town. There was the reunion with Barbara and Iden, our Sydney guests from nearly a year ago, reminding us all how quickly time flies, the arrival of Gina’s mom, reminding us of where we each come from, and a deck party at Ray’s with real sunshine, reminding us that there can be such a thing in the summer time. Besides THE cake, who could ask for anything more? (Maybe an alka seltzer, but that’s probably just me.)
