Weissfluhjoch/Haupter Talli/Strelapass/Panoramaweg/Davos Dorf (10 km by Foot)
The Swiss build trains up to the most amazing heights. This Parsennbahn cable railway is climbing us up to 2662 m (8733 ft) and no one in this car besides me seems the least bit bothered by the fact that we are at a most awkward angle, so steeply inclined that should something go SNAP, we wouldn’t so much slide back down the slope as we would tumble ass over teakettle down, those eager-beaver people up in the front of the car being the first to go. I’ll just stay hunkered down here in the bottom end and hope for the best.
We are riding this engineering marvel to the top on the recommendation of Monique, our current landlord and Hostess with the Mostest, who has been helpfully steering us toward the best hikes in the area. From the Weissfluhjoch station we opt to loop around one mountain, cross its face on the other side, and then lumber down its spine into the valley below. Great views, great trail conditions, and a great recommendation. The only thing missing? The will to go any farther. Turns out these hiking muscles are not the same as those biking muscles and they want you to know it.
