It’s easy to let the blog entries fall by the wayside when simply living, unless, that is, you have a Gina in your household who reminds you that life is an interesting animal to write about whether you’re on the road or on the sofa. We’ve really been neither since returning from Sun Valley, Gina having flown off to Denver for a week to visit family and friends and me having spent some quiet time alone getting our year-of-travel photo and blog files organized and vacuuming the house. Oh, and getting a job. Yes, the time has come to go back to work. It’s sad in that I’m-really-spoiled-and-would-like-to-go-on-living-without-working way but it’s happy in the I-look-forward-to-money-rolling-into-my-account-rather-than-continuously-out way.
We’re also finding that this is an emotional time, adjustments to be made in our everyday outlook, accepting that this big thing we just did is now over and seriously, where did all that time go? Super cliche, but true. The one year anniversary of our last working day in Sydney is just a few weeks away; the two year anniversary of the day we left Seattle for Sydney is just a few months away. Two years? Impossible, yet also true. The remedy for our pain? Smoothing out the scratch paper, sharpening our pencils, and starting to sketch out that five year plan. If time is going to continue to march on so quickly, we need to stay prepared.
Greetings from Boulder, Co! I’m an old friend of Gina’s and just read on your blog that she’s in Denver this week? Have her email me if she gets a chance! Would love to see her again. Kim Neil (formerly Gillmore)
