Time to fly as, once again, time has been flying by here in Sydney while we’ve been unpacking and re-packing our bags. Today’s destination: Singapore. Tomorrow’s: Hanoi, Vietnam.
In preparation for our trip, we’ve been running lots of errands. There was the trip to the chemist to make sure our insides and outsides are as protected as possible from all of the unfamiliar elements to which we’ll be exposed. There was the trip to the post office to expose our smiling (or, in my case, half-smiling) faces to the passport photo camera so we’re adequately prepared to obtain our Vietnamese visas upon landing. There was the trip to the hair stylist to make sure we’re properly groomed for public consumption after having spent the past 4 weeks living in a campervan, where standards were perhaps not quite so high. And there was the trip to the library to load up on guidebooks that now need to be rapidly read and digested on today’s 8.5 hour flight.
And in between all these preparations, we were generously hosted by Neighbour Cynthia and Limpin’ Leigh, whose households gave us protection from the elements, beds to sleep in, dogs to cuddle, and friendly, fun conversation with people other than each other. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – we couldn’t do this without their Sydney Support System, and for that we thank them (profusely).
